Avon House is situated in the centre of Salisbury, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, a cinema and many leisure and recreational parks and facilities. Avon offers a safe, homely environment for up to 6 girls aged between 8 and 17 for medium to long term placements. Recently rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, Avon House is a Member of the “Community of Communities” led through the Royal College of Psychiatrists and actively participates in Annual Peer reviews.

You will not only be responsible for the basic care and protection of our children but also serve as a positive role model, inspiring the children in all aspects of their life. You will build an appropriate relationship and show resilient with focus to motive the need for education and enjoy community-based actives.
Your experience will lead you to adopt a child centred approach with a thorough understanding of each child and their exacting needs. Utilising this knowledge, you will be able to identify any significant features in their behaviour and be alerted to any signs of distress, to ensure that they are monitored and protected. You will have leadership qualities and feel confident offering guidance and understanding when involved in supporting the care team through supervision. You will be responsible for the smooth running of shifts and must be an effective communicator, both in the oral and written forms. Underpinning everything you do will be the desire to work as a team to ultimately achieve the best possible outcomes for the children in your care.
The role entails working on a shift rota, you will be required to undertake sleep-in duties as part of a regular pattern of work.
