Five Rivers Child Care is a Leading Social Enterprise that works with ‘Looked after Children’ who need specialist placements throughout England and Ireland.

Our Supervising Social Workers provide one to one support to our Foster Carers and typically have a lower workload than those in local authority and many other Individual Fostering Services meaning that we can offer more of a responsive and bespoke service

Due to an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity is available for a Supervising Social Worker to join our well-established Independent Fostering Agency recently awarded an “Good” judgement by Ofsted in Bristol

The position would ideally be suited to a Social Worker with experience in the Fostering Sector and with a proven track record of supporting and assessing Foster Carers and contributing towards excellent outcomes for children and young people.

Your knowledge and expertise will be welcomed and developed at Five Rivers Child Care. As an integral member of the team you will adopt a child-centred approach with emphasis placed on safeguarding the well-being of children placed with us through careful matching with our foster carers. You will forge effective partnerships when offering professional support to local authorities, foster carers and children in placement.

Salary:                  £27,500 to £32,000 pa DOE

Hours:                   37 hours per week

General responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and participate in local carer recruitment activities
  • Assist in undertaking initial visits, as required;
  • Carry out stringent assessment and completion of Form F to a high standard, presenting reports to panel;
  • Supervise and support allocated foster carers, and their placements, completing all necessary recording and reporting documentation;
  • Actively promote, develop and deliver training programmes which support the development of our foster carers;
  • Promote the agency externally ensuring that the agency’s policies to offer a professional, high-quality fostering service
  • Work in liaison with all Regional colleagues to achieve a high standard of service which meets all Ofsted requirements and delivers improvements and enhanced standards
  • Contribute to the Regional Business Plan with regard to carer recruitment, carer retention and placement growth, in line with all targets and KPI’s;

Requirements:

  • The role will suit an experienced social worker, who has worked within either an IFA or Local Authority fostering team and must be registered with the HCPC.
  • Experience in behavioural management and working with young people with complex needs, to offer support and training to carers would be an advantage.
